MedlinePlus
A service of the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health, MedlinePlus has extensive information in both English and Spanish about skin care, types of skin cancer, and skin cancer prevention.

National Cancer Institute
NCI offers information geared specifically to patients about all facets of skin cancer, including prevention and a general information page, which links to information on types of skin cancer, tests, and treatment options.

American Cancer Society
Along with tips on skin cancer prevention and treatment, this site provides a guide for self-examination, with photos of melanomas and an explanation of the ABCD Rule for recognizing them (Asymmetry, Border, Color, and Diameter).

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
This website features dozens of articles, in English only, on how to prevent and treat skin cancer (melanoma and nonmelanoma), avoiding overexposure to the sun, and other types of skin damage. You will also find an explanation of how the UV index is calculated, as well as today's UV index for your area.

The Federal Trade Commission
The FTC provides information, in English only, on sunscreen types and protective clothing.
