States Find Ways to Aid Older Drivers

The AARP Driver Safety Program is a classroom driver-improvement course designed for motorists age 50 and up.

The eight-hour course is typically taught in two four-hour sessions over two days and costs just $10. It provides practical techniques for coping with changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time, along with a review of "rules of the road."

More than 8 million people have completed the course. Graduates are eligible for an auto insurance discount in most states.

For local course information, in English or Spanish, call the AARP Driver Safety information line toll free at 888-227-7669 or visit the AARP Driver Safety website.
