Stretch Across the Generations
Have you ever tried exercising with a toddler? Serious aerobics quickly
deteriorate into stretching and silliness.
But the child is flexible. And flexibility is one of the keys to feeling
young and healthy. Stretching is an easy way to achieve and maintain
that flexibility.
There are lots of fun stretches you can do with a toddler. Just ask
your doctor if there are any stretches you should not do, then
have fun. Hold each stretch for several seconds and don't bounce.
You can be marionettes, posing in different positions.
Or cats waking from a nap-getting down on
all fours and arching your back, then sitting back on your haunches
with your arms stretched out
in front of you.
Or famous dancers bowing deeply to an appreciative
audience in front of you and to each side-with back leg bent, front
leg straight, and arms swept out and back.
Playing is good for kids of all ages.
